The Guadalajara International Airport resumed normal 24 hour operations after undergoing maintenance work on its runway.

 

The maintenance and re-surfacing of the runway consisted of an investment of approximately Ps. $62 million and was part of the work included in the 2010-2014 Master Development Plan.


Runway 10-28 at the Guadalajara International Airport measures 4,000 meters by 60 meters, and is Mexico’s second largest runway.


The rehabilitation work included placing a coat of SMA asphalt with an average thickness of 5 cm the length of the runway.  Furthermore, the painting and illumination beacons were repositioned, in addition to widening the runways’ borders by 7.5 m on both sides of the runway.


The runway work spread 12,020 m3 of asphalt and applied 13,500 m2 of painting.  With regards to the widening of the runway’s border, 26.500 m3 were excavated and 19.459 m3 of base material was extended.
